Qualifications:


The role will be responsible for assisting in the management of the environmental design elements of the proposed railway corridor for the route. The role will work with the Area Environment team leading on the environmental design and construction for the London to West Midlands (LWM) route area section in accordance with the organisational and sponsor requirements and policies, environmental commitments, environmental law and regulation.

Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Senior Environment Manager and other topic specialists, helping lead on the Area Team's environmental design requirements and deliverables working in close association with the Technical Directorate's Environmental and Engineering Specialists
Ensure that the design and construction of the LWM route area complies with the technical and sponsor requirements, environmental commitments, environmental law and regulation;
Provide guidance for environmental design solutions for your area and ensure that environmental issues and constraints are key considerations in project design;
Liaise with technical stakeholders via various different forums at local, regional and national levels and the local community on sensitive issues;
Assist with managing the consultants appointed to undertake environmental design including production and approval of task orders and associated cost/resource plans;
Critical review of all design and construction deliverables produced by environmental consultants, enabling works contractors and main works civils contractors;
Assist in the development and implementation of environmental management procedures and processes during the design and construction of the LWM scheme to ensure environmental performance is tracked and reported on.
Work alongside other technical specialists to develop appropriate and cost balanced mitigation strategies and solutions.
