Engineering/Land Surveyor

Initial 12 Month Contract

Cumbria

 

Our Client has a requirement for an Engineering/Land Surveyor, who will be required to work on a 12 month contract basis in Cumbria.   

 

Job Description:

  • Undertake specialist high precision surveying and setting out duties as assigned as prioritised by Lead Surveyor to meet project requirements.
  • Liaise and work with Engineering, Construction and Client team’s responsible installation of plant and equipment, including Civil, Mechanical, Ventilation and Piping systems.
  • Undertake as-built surveys and produce related reports and drawings for structures, plant and (mechanical) equipment feeding into lifetime quality documentation.
  • Maintain and extend survey control system to facilitate progressive evolution of plant.
  • Provide technical support to the project as subject matter expert on Surveying and setting out related matters.
  • Coach, mentor and develop less experienced surveyors / engineers to teach practicable survey / best practice techniques for setting out.
  • Take charge of survey equipment and ensure project quality assurance processes are fully complied with.
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm safety requirements in order to work safely with various teams and stakeholders.

 

Essential Experience & Qualifications 

The role requires an experienced individual armed with the following in order to survey and set-out complex systems:

  • Degree or HND qualification with at least 2 years’ experience in the field of structural/land/engineering surveying.
  • Experience/working knowledge of modern surveying systems including geodetic & geospatial engineering and setting out of high precision systems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
  • Demonstrates an understanding for project schedules, inter dependent activities, that facilitate survey prioritisation and timely delivery.
  • Demonstrates a passion and excitement for his / her work. Tackles problems head-on and works to resolve them without delay.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Engineering Surveyors is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A valid CSCS card is a requirement for this role.
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD, LSS and Leica Survey Equipment.
  • Good knowledge of BIM is desirable.
