Our client is one of the world's largest full service international law firms with approximately 6,000 employees in 69 offices across Europe, the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The corporate team in our Beijing office work together with our colleagues based in Shanghai and Hong Kong, offering one integrated "China team" to support client needs and transactions. They have developed unparalleled experience in advising Chinese state-owned enterprises and large private companies on their outbound M&A transactions and the Belt and Road projects. They have advised on many of the largest and most complex outbound projects involving Chinese companies.

What we are looking for:

We are looking to appoint a lawyer with between 5 and 7 years' PQE to our China Corporate practice. More senior lawyers will also be considered.

The candidate should have gained a broad range of M&A experience with a leading international firm. The candidate should have the experience and ability to handle cross-border transactions independently with light partner supervision.

In essence we need a bilingual lawyer with native or near native English to be able to draft and negotiate M&A documents in English. His or her Chinese language capability should be good enough to communicate with Chinese clients in writing and orally, with soft skills and people skills to deal with Chinese SOEs and be able to adapt to the Chinese culture.

Key competencies:

  • Legal education background

JD/LLB degree from the UK/US/Australia/Singapore/Hong Kong etc.

  • Language

Native or near native English language capability. Good Chinese language in writing and orally capable of communicating with Chinese clients.

Candidates are required to be international qualified - UK/US/Australia/Hong Kong/Singapore.

  • Other requirements

The candidate should have soft skills and people skills to deal with Chinese SOEs and be able to adapt to the Chinese culture.
