Assistant Project Manager - Birmingham
Contract position based in Birmingham working on the HS2 Project.
1. JOB PURPOSE
Assist the Project Managers across the construction and delivery of Phase One infrastructure programme to meet the requirements as set out in the Programme Requirements Specification, in accordance with CDM regulations.
Knowledge of NEC preferred.
2. ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist the Project Manager in delivery of the project requirements as specified in the Programme Requirements Specification in accordance with CDM regulations
  • Project manage certain elements of the project under the guidance of a Project Manager, adhering to the project lifecycle requirements in terms of schedule and cost
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and managing risk, making sure these risks are entered into the risk register and actively managed
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining a Project Document Register on eB, using the agreed generic project document control structure
  • Comply with management requirements and applying best construction and project management practice
  • Assist in the formation and development of successful project teams
  • Assist in ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met
  • Encourage and assisting in the implementation of continuous improvement and knowledge management
  • Investigate and research best practice in construction and project management, highlighting opportunities to the Project Manager
  • Developing and managing a personal development plan, to be discussed on a regular basis with the Project Manager


3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate or equivalent HND, ideally in engineering or project management
  • Demonstrable ability using MS Office products and MS Project
  • Commercially orientated, with a proven track record of taking responsibility, of leading from the front, and with sufficient gravitas to inspire and give confidence to both colleagues and customers
  • An understanding of project management techniques and some knowledge of their implementation in a commercial environment
  • Proven communication skills including track record of presentations and reporting across various levels
  • Previous track record in the delivery side of professional services/construction/complex engineering projects is desirable
