There is a requirement for a Cost Analyst to come onto the Crossrail project on a contract-basis for at least 6-months in Stratford, East London.

Role Brief:

  • Analyse and validate Project cost reports and forecasts, providing cost management and forecasting guidance to Project cost teams across the Programme
  • Analyse Programme Change, Schedule Change and Investment Authority proposals and provide estimating support.
  • Support the Programme change process and manage the cost team responsibilities relating to schedule change control
  • Prepare Programme cost reports, analyse and report on the cost status of the Programme.
  • Maintain the integrity of all cost management records, specifically within the Prism cost management system
  • Prepare and validate cost, forecast, trend and AFC reports. Review, validate and challenge Project cost and time forecasts and support periodic AFC review meetings
  • As part of the Programme Change Team review Change and Investment Authority proposals, analyse and challenge estimates and cost forecasts, prepare estimates in liaison with Project teams as required.
  • Mange the capture and reporting of the cost impacts of schedule change
  • Support the Programme Change process, attend review meetings, prepare and follow up actions
  • Manage the Prism trend process and other Prism transactions, preparing and validating reports for senior management, including reports of trends to be approved. Manage the trend process centrally, validating trends to be approved and explaining trends to senior management
  • Prepare consolidated Programme cost reports
  • Work with the Prism System Administrator to ensure that Prism approvals and workflows function correctly and in line with best governance
  • Participate in the preparation of cost studies utilising historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons .

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent, preferably in Engineering or Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • RIGS or accountancy qualification or part qualification desirable
  • Advanced experience of major project cost control and cost management systems including Prism
  • Knowledge of cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with project schedule planning techniques and systems
  • Experience of producing cost reports and forecasts to tight deadlines, and reviewing and critiquing cost reports prepared by others.
  • Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts, with operational implementation and daily contractor management.
  • Experience of forecasting, scheduling techniques and risk analysis
  • Experience in technical and practical application of estimating, pricing and costing on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proactive self starter, able to form supportive relationship with a wide variety of colleagues across the Programme. Experience of reporting to and supporting senior project managers and directors.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with experience of presenting cost engineering information to management and an ability to make complex information easy to understand
  • Must have prepared cost breakdowns for board level reviews.
  • Must have analysed multiple cost data streams
  • Given recommendations for cost improvements/reductions
