Design Manager required for Phase 2b Design Delivery on High Speed Two.
Based in Birmingham
12 Month Contract initially (Inside IR35)

Role Brief:
As Design Manager you will:
· be the responsible for the quality of design across Phase 2 with particular emphasis on ensuring designs are developed in accordance with HS2 Ltd's requirements and the Design Vision and championing good design;
· be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of station designs that comply with technical station requirements
· be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of designs that comply with technical requirements for Rail Systems, including line management and support of the Rail Systems Manager;
· be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of designs that comply with HS2 Ltd's technical requirements for Utilities, including line management and support of the Utilities Manager;
· be responsible for overseeing the consistent delivery of designs that comply with HS2 Ltd's technical requirements for Permanent Way, including line management and support of the Senior Permanent Way Engineer;
· be the designate Principal Designer's Representative for routewide design issues;
· lead the area teams in the definition of design scope, including required investigations etc;


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERTISE
· Broad expertise in developing multi-disciplinary designs in a rail environment.
· Degree qualified Chartered Engineer with a demonstrable track record of succeeding in a similar role on a major rail or infrastructure project in a multi-disciplinary design and delivery environment.
· Comprehensive understanding of engineering / design matters, reporting and associated risk management.
