Job Title: Senior Engineer – Energy Conversion

 

Location: Manchester or London

 

Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Engineer with strong expertise in energy generation, storage, and conversion technologies to join a global engineering and consultancy firm delivering cutting-edge energy solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across renewables, bioenergy, hydrogen, and conventional power systems, helping shape the future of energy and sustainability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and deliver projects across energy conversion, power generation, energy storage, waste-to-energy, and hybrid energy systems.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, performance modelling, and technical due diligence for utility-scale and industrial clients.

  • Provide technical leadership on major project deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and interface with senior stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.

  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and technical strategy.

 

Key Requirements:

 

  • 8+ years’ experience in energy generation, conversion, or process engineering projects (e.g., power plants, renewables, WtE, CHP, hydrogen, biofuels).

  • Strong foundation in thermodynamics, energy systems modelling, and process engineering.

  • Experience with power plant performance analysis and simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, EBSILON, Thermoflex).

  • Knowledge of energy conversion cycles (Rankine, Brayton, combined cycle, ORC, etc.).

  • Track record of project leadership, multi-disciplinary coordination, and client engagement.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards (IMechE, IChemE, or similar).

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Energy Engineering (or related discipline).
