New Job Opportunity - Senior SHE Advisor - Initial 12 Month Outside IR35 Contract - Site Based in Reading

Contract Length: 12 Months

IR35 Status: Can be either Outside or Inside IR35

Requirements: Able to obtain SC clearance, 5 years SHE Experience within the Nuclear industry

Project / Department Overview:

Our client has been contracted for the design and build of a facility near Reading. The scope of works for this project includes Programme Management, Construction, Building Services (M&E), Instrumentation and Control Systems, and various external works.

Concurrent activities, including commissioning and operational systems, are ongoing with permanent live services in use across the project. Transitioning from an active construction site into a hybrid environment brings new SHE challenges. The Senior SHE Advisor role will be pivotal in ensuring site behaviours and practices align with both the client and end-client expectations. Effective communication and the ability to influence behaviours are essential qualities for this role, in addition to strong SHE knowledge and experience.

This is an on-site role based in Reading, Burghfield. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC is preferred.

Job Description:

  • Support the Contract SHE functions by providing and enabling SHE solutions to help Contract and Operational Teams implement the SHE Management System.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders while providing an independent and objective view of SHE performance across the Contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and influence the Contract Leadership Team, the client, and other stakeholders in complying with the SHE Management System and achieving Contract SHE performance objectives.
  • Support and, where required, deliver training to enable the Contract Team to successfully implement the SHE Management System.
  • Coach and support Operational Teams and Supply Chain Contractors in meeting Contract SHE requirements.
  • Participate in the ongoing assessment of Supply Chain Contractors, where required.
  • Actively support the delivery of annual Contract and Group SHE objectives.
  • Engage with the Contract SHE Assurance Programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Lead and support investigations into unplanned events and the close-out of assurance findings, ensuring lessons learned are shared in line with the SHE Management System.
  • Support timely reporting, analysis, and utilisation of SHE data to influence the Contract Leadership Team and contribute to data-driven improvement plans.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years of SHE-related experience.

Desirable:

  • Over 5 years of relevant SHE experience within a related industry.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Occupational Safety Diploma, Environmental Diploma, or equivalent.

Professional Membership:

Essential:

  • Tech IOSH or AIEMA (or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Cert IOSH or AIEMA (or equivalent).
